Oskar Blues’ Old Chub

A delicious Scotch Ale brewed in Longmont, Colorado won a gold medal at both 2010’s and 2008’s World Beer Championships–and for very good reason. I love how this beer doesn’t skimp on the malt and it brings out hints of coffee and caramel provided by the roasted grain.  I like what the folks at Oskar Blues Brewery have to say about this unique flavor:

While Dale’s satisfies our hop addiction, Old Chub takes care of our deep affections for malt. The cola-colored beer (almost black) features a tan head, a creamy, skim-milk mouthfeel, and rich, semi-sweet flavors of caramel and chocolate throughout. The addition of smoked grains gives Old Chub a delicate kiss of smoke on the finish. http://www.oskarblues.com/the-brews/old-chub

I couldn’t but help take pictures of this delicious brew and represent it in all of its malted glory.

Try this beer out if you are looking looking to get out of light and bland flavored beers for a real dark beer with a great flavor combination.  Oskar Blues also makes Dale’s Pale Ale and Yellow Mama Pils, which are also very tasty drinks.

Slainte!
